. . .and so, the email from the Society of Composers and Lyricists, read “deadline to submit 90 seconds of comedy score to be reviewed by a panel has been extended.” And I thought, Mmmm, maybe the number of entries is low, so why not send something in. So, I did, last Tuesday. Then, Wednesday, I get an email saying, “Congratulations, yours was one of two films selected for review. Will you be at the meeting? Yes, I’ll be there. Of course, I was considering that the meeting was in Manhattan, on Thursday. Oops. So, 6 hours drive, 2 hour event, 90 second clip, 60 seconds review, overnight stay, and 6 hours drive back home; but is was worth it. Just to have George S. Clinton, (Austin Powers composer), and Jeff Richmond, (30 Rock composer) watch my clip and say that I did a great job was enough to balance the whole trip. So, I won’t hesitate in the future to send stuff in.
